Bathing for Balance

"I can balance out your chakras..."

As a Libra, finding balance is super important to me. When you are able to create a balanced lifestyle, you feel calm, grounded & motivated. Some factors are within your control, such as dialing back the caffeine, meal prepping, or developing some relaxation methods. Have you ever thought about finding balance through bathing? I’ve outlined 7 chakra-balancing baths to help realign and unblock your chakras all while rubba-dub-tubbin’ it!

Before you start your soak, visualize the area of the body that needs your focus and turn your attention to that area of your body. Imagine the color pairing that is associated with that chakra and add flowers, herbs, and oils to support that area as well as your sensory experience. Now, brew yourself a batch of tea, get in your birthday suit, and toe-in to that tub!

1. Root Chakra (Muladhara)

  • Body: Base of the spine, bladder, and colon
  • Color Association: Red
  • Essential Oils To Pair: Vetiver/Cyprus/Cedar wood
  • Herbal Tea To Taste: Ginseng/Dandelion Root

You will know that you are unbalanced if you suffer from low self-esteem or are self-centered. You will know you are balanced if you feel stabilized and grounded.

2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)

  • Body: Above the pubic bone, but below the navel 
  • Color Association: Orange
  • Essential Oils To Pair: Jasmine/Ylang Ylang
  • Herbal Tea To Taste: Cinnamon Bark

You will know that you are unbalanced if you are overly sensitive, emotionally unbalanced, or feel disempowered. You will know you are balanced if you feel creative, are able to balance your emotions, and have a strong sexual flow.

3. Solar Chakra (Manipura)

  • Body: From navel to the breastbone 
  • Color Association: Yellow
  • Essential Oils To Pair: Ginger/Geranium/Helichrysum
  • Herbal Tea To Taste: Ginger or Mint

You will know that you are unbalanced if you are fearful or judgmental. You will know you are balanced if you are able to strengthen your personal power and have the ability to raise your own self-esteem.

4. Heart Chakra (Anahata)

  • Body: Heart center
  • Color Association: Green/Pink
  • Essential Oils To Pair: Rose/Melissa
  • Herbal Tea To Taste: Licorice

You will know that you are unbalanced if you are possessive or fear of rejection. You will know you are balanced if you have the ability to love unconditionally and show compassion.

5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

  • Body: Throat area or thyroid
  • Color Association: Blue
  • Essential Oils To Pair: Lavender/Geranium
  • Herbal Tea To Taste: Lemon with Turmeric

You will know that you are unbalanced if you are unreliable and self-righteous. You will know you are balanced if you are satisfied and content in your truth.

6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

  • Body: In between the eyebrows
  • Color Association: Indigo
  • Essential Oils To Pair: Sandalwood/Clary/Sage
  • Herbal Tea To Taste: Schizandra Berry/Jasmine

You will know that you are unbalanced if you are undisciplined and highly logical. You will know you are balanced if you are able to focus, be intuitive and are centered.

7. Crown Chakra (Sahaswara)

  • Body: Crown of the head
  • Color Association: Violet
  • Essential Oils To Pair: Frankincense/Blue Chamomile
  • Herbal Tea To Taste: Astragalus Root, Lavender

You will know that you are unbalanced if you are constantly exhausted and depressed. You will know you are balance if you are able to soothe a restless mind, have a higher awareness, and are prayerful.

It is simple to think of clearing your chakras like the drain of a bathtub. Much like how the buildup of too much hair will cause a drain blockage, pent up, unreleased, or held-in emotion will disrupt the chakra flow. Go on and take a sip and a splash!
